  • What kinds of surface is the Never Drill Again system suitable for?

Most smooth or rough surfaces are suitable if they are firm and able to bear the load in question. The Never Drill Again system is perfect for high-quality materials that one does not want to damage by drilling, like stone, ceramic (tiles), glass, concrete, metal, wood and many plastics.

Unsuitable surfaces, on the other hand, include soft plasters, wallpaper and textiles (such as carpets), which do not provide sufficient firmness or support for surface attachments.

There is no adhesion to polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, Teflon).

Although we have described as many examples as possible, our instructions can cover only some of the many surfaces and surface treatments that are suitable. The user is therefore advised to make preliminary tests when considering other types of surface.

 

  • Will the system work on rough surfaces too?

Surface texture is not a factor that affects the bonding strength of the Never Drill Again adhesive. However, the surface must be flat to match the adapter and should not have any large gaps that would let adhesive escape under the adapter ring. In fact, a slightly roughened surface affords even better adhesion owing to the improved mechanical contact.

Surface texture is more likely to make a difference when the adhesive is removed. With materials such as glass or smooth tile no special measures are necessary, but to completely remove the silicone-like adhesive from the gaps and pores of rough surfaces, it is necessary to use a silicone remover, or pure alcohol, and a coarse brush.

As a rule, the adhesive can be removed from such surfaces too without leaving a trace.

 

  • Can I use the system outdoors as well?

Sure! The adhesive will not decay, withstands UV radiation, is water-resistant and is not damaged by freezing (however, it should be applied at a temperature between +5° and +40° C). But continuous immersion in water should be avoided.

 

  • Will two adapters hold better than one?

In principle, yes!

But if a double load must be carried, make sure that it is equally divided between the adapters. This is usually not the case when the adapters are positioned one above the other, because the upper one usually has more to bear.

The same applies of course to larger numbers of adapters.

 

  • Might not the system just fall off after three weeks?

Absolutely not!
Once the Never Drill Again system has been properly attached, its special single-component adhesive will ensure a permanent bond. Moreover, it will retain its elasticity and not fray the way many textile adhesive tapes do after only a few weeks. Moreover, short impact loads will not cause the adhesive surface to crack, as often happens with two-component adhesives that harden to form a crystalline connection. You’ll find that the Never Drill Again system is not only a completely new, but the best, experience in bonding technology!

 

  • I followed the instructions carefully, but the adapter still fell from the wall. Why did that happen?

According to our experience, when the Never Drill Again system fails to deliver what we promise, it’s usually for one of three reasons. Each of these reasons has to do with improper conditions for bonding. From the so-called fracture pattern of the adhesive on the back of the adapter, one can easily determine what the problem is.

 

Cavities in the adhesive layer

Probably out of habit with adhesives do users sometimes tend to apply firm pressure to the adapter after filling in the adhesive. In the case of the Never Drill Again system, however, this does not improve adhesion. By contrast: Through the holes in the adapter the unhardened adhesive will be pressed out and cavities will form in the adhesive layer (fracture pattern 4) that will reduce the maximum load.

Incomplete filling of the space formed between the adapter, the adhesive foil and the wall (possibly by trying to fill in adhesive through both holes; see fracture pattern 5) will lead to the same problem: a severely reduced maximum load! Therefore, always fill in the adhesive through one hole only, until it emerges from the other one. Only then can you be sure that the space is completely filled.

Insufficient curing time

Impatience is probably the greatest enemy of success. If you fail to give the adhesive the 12 hours of curing time stipulated in the instruction manual and mount the object prematurely, fracture pattern 2 is the usual result: the incompletely cured adhesive bonds somewhat, but not enough. When a heavy load is applied, the adapter breaks away and exhibits a fracture pattern with incomplete cohesion (fracture pattern 2), in contrast to the complete cohesion that can be seen when a correctly installed system is removed with a pliers (fracture pattern 1).

Separation layer on the surface

Many users, eager to clean the surface especially thoroughly before applying the Never Drill Again system, ignore the instruction manual and use conventional household cleaners, which often have components that dissolve grease or confer water resistance. These cleansers not only prevent water and grease from adhering to the surface, they do the same for the Never Drill Again adhesive. You yourself will know best if this explains the lack of adhesion in your case. If this is indeed the reason, your adapter’s fracture pattern will give added confirmation: if the adhesive covering on the back side of the adapter is as smooth as in fracture pattern 3, the adhesive was not able to bond. Next time, therefore, just rub down the surface with a clean, dry cloth; however, in wet areas like in the shower where soap residues usually remain, we recommend cleaning the surface with pure alcohol or acetone (NB Do not use benzene, nail polish remover etc.).

With Never Drill Again too, the exception proves the rule. In the case of surfaces that have received special treatments (for example, waxed or oiled natural stone or wood) or that have separation layers on the surface from the manufacturing process (for example, high-density PVC of the type used in window frames), you must remove the separation layer with a special cleaner or alcohol and then allow it to dry for at least an hour for the reasons mentioned above.

And we must also mention another exception. In the case of tiles with a so-called lotus or beading effect, the separation layer cannot be removed by chemical means. However, the Never Drill Again system will generally work here if the curing time is extended considerably, for instance doubled.

Unsuitable surface

Although the Never Drill Again system can be used on almost any common, firm surface, there are certain plastics on which Never Drill Again adhesive just won’t stick. The most important of these are polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, Teflon). Here, too, the adhesive will exhibit fracture pattern 3.

  • Is the adhesive toxic?

No, but of course it was not made to be eaten. Contact with skin is harmless, however: just rinse off with soap and water. In case of contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with water for several minutes, keeping the eyelid open. Consult a doctor as a precaution. If adhesive is swallowed, obtain medical advice immediately.

 

  • If it is so strong, how can it possibly be removed?

The lastingly elastic Never Drill Again adhesive is highly resistant to tractive forces, but a lot less to torsion. This in combination with the large lever of a wrench enables us to remove our adapters quite easily.

 

  • Can the adhesive cause damage to surfaces

No. We know of no load-bearing material that would be harmed by the chemical substances in the Never Drill Again adhesive. However, owing to the many kinds of surface you might encounter, we cannot guarantee that it will be possible in every instance to remove the adhesive without a trace. Especially in the case of surfaces with open pores, users are advised to carry out preliminary tests.
To prevent damage to soft or open-pored surfaces, special care should also be taken when dismantling the system and removing the adhesive. With glass and smooth tile a glass scraper is the tool of choice, but with vulnerable surfaces like wood and laminate a plastic spatula is recommended.
Residual adhesive can then be removed with a scraper (on smooth and hard surfaces) or with silicone remover and a scrubbing brush (on rougher surfaces).

 

  • Is the adhesive free of formaldehyde?

Yes.

 

  • How should I dispose of the adhesive?

You can put hardened or dried adhesive remnants right into the household rubbish. The same applies to the adapter after dismantling.

 

  • How long will the adhesive keep?

The adhesive itself is non-decaying, so theoretically it keeps forever. However, since it is difficult to process the adhesive and put it in storage without bringing it into contact with air, it may gradually harden in the tube over a long time. The guaranteed minimum durability is 18 months. The end date of this 18-month-period is imprinted on the top fold of the tube in the format DDMMYY.

We do not sell the Never Drill Again adhesive by itself. There would be no point in this, because it cannot be used in households without the Never Drill Again adapter. That’s because the adapter is what ensures sufficient contact with the air to permit the adhesive to harden within 12 hours.

  • Is the adapter reusable?

No, it is not. Even if the adapter were not destroyed by being pulled off with pliers, it would be almost impossible to remove the hardened adhesive so thoroughly to make it permeable to air again. For this reason the adapter and the adhesive are only sold together as a Never Drill Again attachment kit.

 

  • Can one use the system to attach objects other than those that are supplied together with the Never Drill Again system?

The Never Drill Again attachment system can of course be used for mounting objects of any kind, not just those with which the adapter and adhesive are sold. But by using products that are specially designed to fit the Never Drill Again adapter, one can be sure they will fit harmoniously.

Nevertheless, we have developed a universally applicable kit with adapters in various shapes and sizes and with various attachment pieces and covers. Thus the Never Drill Again system is also available for individual applications.

 

  •  How do I find out which replacement kit I need for my Never Drill Again accessory?

You have two options. The first is to find your product on our website, in each description it quotes which adapter works with each accessory. The second, easier, option is to simply take a photo of your accessory and adapter and send it through to us here, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

 

  •  I heard of a similar product overseas, are you just a rip off of them?
